About
Please take some time to get to know a little bit more about Jay. I think you will see yourself in him, and in knowing more of who he is, can trust that he will represent your values if elected in the fall of 2024.
Jay Calhoun has been a longtime resident of the beautiful St. Croix River Valley area since his family moved there from Minnetonka, MN in 1975. He grew up in Taylors Falls, MN, but has lived in Wisconsin now close to 30 years. He, like so many others, has a genuine appreciation for the charm and simplicity of small-town life and wants to keep it that way. Jay married Tashia (Moe) Calhoun in 1997 and they have been happily married for 26 years. Together, they raised three wonderful children in Luck, WI., who are now successful adults. Yearly summer vacations on the lake are still a treasured part of family life.
Like many other Wisconsin Sportsmen, Jay enjoys being outdoors in all the seasons, shooting (both guns and archery), snowmobiling, wakeboarding, hydrofoiling and especially boating. At just 19 years old, Jay bought his first boat. He says “the air coming up over the bow of a boat is somehow the sweetest air known to man.”
Jay is a machinist by trade and began his career by working for his dad in the family business at his machine shop in Shafer, MN. When his dad retired from the business, Jay did too. He continued in the same field working for a small machine shop in Chisago City (Haus Specialty) where he helped rapidly grow the company. Jay brought in new innovative techniques and equipment, while programming and making parts for the aerospace, computer and medical fields. After 21 years there, Haus Specialty was purchased by another company and moved to the Twin Cities Metro Area and Jay decided it was time to re-establish his family’s entrepreneurial practice and start a business of his own.
People who know Jay best say he is genuine, gentle and fearless.
Jay and wife, Tashia became politically involved and awakened pre-covid (thank God!) & have been studying and educating not only themselves but the larger community ever since. They helped form the NorthWestern Wisconsin Patriots in 2023 in order to raise awareness about corruption in government and election integrity. They understand the important connection between faith, government and God and are actively involved with and are proud members of the Republican Party of Polk County.
